Forgivable Grants for Renovate Lanark Home Repairs

Renovate Lanark offers Financial assistance, in the form of a forgivable loan (maximum $10,000) or accessibility grant (maximum $5,000) to allow low income homeowners to conduct mandatory home repairs permitting continued safe occupancy of their home.


Who Qualifies:

- Homeowners with a household income below $87,800
- House must be sole residence valued at less than $301,819
- Mortgage, Property Tax & insurance must be up to date.


RENOVATE LANARK PROGRAM

We are very happy to report that our Renovate Program has helped 45
households this year. The repairs that were completed will keep these
families housed in their current home for many years to come.

Here is a list of the repairs that were completed:

13 homes -New Windows and / or Doors = $108,982.50 - 31% of funding

12 homes -New Roofs = $87,935.66- 25% of funding

8 homes -New Furnaces= $50,872.10- 15% of funding

3 homes -Accessible Bathrooms= $29,927.05- 9% of funding

4 homes -Accessible Entrance way = $27,638.55 - 8% of funding

3 homes -Siding / Insulation= $24,927.80- 7% of funding

2 homes -Well / Septic= $17,571.00- 5% of funding

Lanark County offers financial assistance to allow homeowners
to pay for modifications to make their
property more accessible
to persons with disabilities.
These modifications are intended to eliminate
physical barriers, imminent safety risks and improve the ability to meet the demands of daily living
within the home.

WHO CAN APPLY


Homeowners with household incomes below $87,800;

House must be primary residence valued at less than $
301,819


Mortgage, Property Tax & Insurance coverage must be up to date.

ELIGIBLE MODIFICATIONS

The property must not have major deficiencies to the structure and the building systems.
Modifications must be related to housing and reasonably related
to the occupant’s disability.
Examples of eligible modifications are ramps, handrails, chair lifts, bath lifts, height adjustments to
countertops and cues for doorbells/fire alarms

DOCUMENTS TO INCLUDE WITH APPLICATION


The below documents must be included with the application:

2015 or 2016
Notice of Assessment for all adults in the home

Photo ID for all adults in the home

Verification mortgage payments are up to date

Verification property taxes are up to date

Verification home insurance payments are up to date

MPAC Assessment

3 quotes from qualified contractors

Description of disability and accessibility modification from a
health professional

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Funding for accessibility repairs made to a home and/or a unit, up to maximum of $
5,000is in the form of a onetime grant and does not require repayment.

Annual funding is limited.

Funding will be awarded on a first come first serve basis.
