    Impatient Success

The company started with the project of a single-family home and now it boasts large developments such as Quattro in Surrey, with four four-storey buildings and 472 condo units.

Originally from Jalandhar, in the state of Punjab, in India, Sethi has immigrated twice: once to the United Kingdom, as a teenager, and then in 1978 to Canada, the country he chose as the best place to raise his children. Despite this, Sethi does not like the label of immigrant.

A former machinist turned realtor and real estate development entrepreneur, Sethi does admit, however, that his experiences with immigration have contributed to his success in business.

Like many immigrants, Sethi started his life in Canada earning less than what he used to make in the United Kingdom. After two and a half years, however, he had already surpassed his previous income. He was making a good living as a machinist, but he wanted more.

Sethi decided to go back to school and get his real estate licence. He worked as a realtor for 22 years before deciding to become a developer. He already had some experience renovating houses and selling them for a profit, so he started a real estate development company with his sons. It began as a small venture, but now he sells hundreds of condo units in the Lower Mainland.

All this success has not come without significant trials, however. In October 2008, one of the buildings from his biggest project, Quattro, burned to the ground.

Sethi has moved on. The Quattro building that burned down was rebuilt and the entrepreneur is preparing to launch Quattro 3 next month. The Tien Sher Group of Companies is also working on new projects in Surrey, Richmond and New Westminster.

    he guarantees.
