Ontario Renovates is housing assistance program for Single Family dwellings in the city.

Subjects Federal government , Financial, assistance, Home adaptations, Housing, Municipal government, Physical disabilities, Renovations, Repairs,

* The program is funded jointly by the Federal and Provincial governments but administered at the local level

* The program provides a forgivable loan up to $16,000

* To be eligible, the property must be owned and occupied by the applicant

* The gross total household income must be below $28,500 (income levels increase based on the number of dependents)

* The grant is earned over a period of ten years

* All loans are secured by a promissory note and upon sale of the property, before the forgivable period is reached, a portion of the grant must be repaid

* The program can be used to make a home accessible

Eligibility

1. Single Family dwelling owned and occupied with a gross total household income below $28,500 (income levels increase based on the number of dependents)

2. Up to date property tax

3. Proof of homeowner’s insurance
